2008 Challenger Sox & Martin Raffle Car*

I built this Sox & Martin raffle car from the very first 2008 Challenger I bought.  It was originally Hemi Orange.  After playing around with it for a while, I decided to turn it into a Sox & Martin Cuda.  At the time at Mr. Norm’s garage, we were converting Challengers to Cudas.  If you look closely, you can see that we straightened the body line behind the doors and made them straight like a Cuda as opposed to having a kick-up like the Challenger.  A Cuda type grille helped in the conversion.

I got together with Buddy Martin and Diane Sox (Ronnie’s wife).  We decided to look at building some new Sox & Martin cars.  This was the first we built, and we decided to have a raffle and donate the proceeds to the Ronnie Sox Foundation.  Diane had raffled off a Hemi motor the year before to raise funds for the foundation.

For $25, you could buy a ticket to win this car.  We sold tickets throughout the year, and at the 2011 Mopars at the Strip show in Las Vegas, we picked the winning ticket.  Diane and Buddy were both there and Diane picked the winner.  Part of the presentation included Buddy and I driving down the track in my ’68 Sox & Martin clone with Diane driving the new car.  It was an absolute thrill for me to go down the track with Buddy.
