Now this is the way to travel! I was at the U.S. National Drag Races in 2007 and stopped to look at the motor homes and trailers. I had been moving cars around the country for a long time, and it wasn’t easy. At the time, I had someone working for me full-time and he was spending a lot of time on the road with a 2-car trailer moving stuff around.
I bought the NRC motorhome and a Performax trailer. The trailer was a 4-car stacker. You’d drive one car in on the lift, raise the lift and move it forward. You’d lower the lift, drive the 2nd car on and lift it up. Then 2 more cars fit underneath. It was a great way to haul 4 cars around.
The rig drove very well, but it was 90’ long from tip to stern. The motorhome was 45’ and the stacker was another 45’. It was a great way to travel, though. I was still working at the time, so the guy working for me did almost all of the driving. Over a 5 year period, he put almost 200,000 miles on it and it went back and forth across the country many times. The inside of the motorhome was very nice, and he enjoyed staying in it rather than hotels.
It was great at car shows. Typically, he would take the rig to the show and I’d fly into a local airport. He’d pick me up and we would both sleep in the motorhome during the show. It was great!
On my own, I’d take the motorhome for vacations periodically. It was also great for horse shows, where there’s a lot of sitting around and waiting to show.
