2001 Superformance Cobra

It doesn’t get much better than a Cobra!  This car had about 450 HP, which is an insane amount of power for a car this light and short.  It could be a real handful.  As a matter of fact, in the manual that came with the car, there was a disclaimer stating “Congratulations, you’ve just bought the most dangerous car on the planet!”.

I spent quite a bit of time doing the research on reproduction Cobras, and no matter where I looked, I came up with the same answer – the Superformance Cobra is the only way to go.

At the time, it was the only Cobra that was being assembled as a complete car.  The biggest question that needed to be answered was what type of motor to put in it.  The other brands were all selling kits, and you had to build the car yourself.  It looked like an cheap way to get into a Cobra, but they never seemed to keep their value.  For years, I looked at the kits and it seemed that they always cost about $40,000 to build at which point they would be sold for $29,000.  The Superformance on the other hand always seemed to keep its value.

I found this car at a car auction.  The dealer selling it had a number of cars in his display, although they weren’t all for sale in the auction.  I talked to him for a while and got comfortable with the car.  I ended up buying it, and never regretted it.  It was a great car and a blast to drive!
