1984 Corvette

This was my very first Corvette.  It’s also 1 of only 2 that weren’t red.  As I’ve mentioned before, the C3 Corvette wasn’t my favorite body style.  They were OK, but didn’t really do much for me.  When I saw the poster for the C4 in this post, I was awestruck!  I thought it was one of the coolest cars I had ever seen.

I had a friend that worked for a software company that had just gone bankrupt.  He happened to have a 1984 Corvette, which was his company car.  During the bankruptcy, the car had to be sold, so I bought it.  I was thrilled!

Looking back, it wasn’t really a very good car.  It had a horrible ride – I used to say that if you ran over a dime, you could tell if it was heads or tails because it was so rough.  It also had the Crossfire Injection motor, which topped out at 205 HP.  Still, the design of the car was awesome.  It had a LED dashboard, which was cutting technology at the time.

Not long after I got the car, I was driving next to a Buick Grand National on a deserted road.  I knew I couldn’t keep up, but we both nailed it to see what would happen.  I lost, but wanted to see what the Grand National could do.  It got out in front – it wasn’t really very close, but it was great to see what the Buick could do.
