This race car belonged to my wife’s brother. He and a friend started off with a 1973 Dart Sport and built this car, painted it, built the motor and reworked the drivetrain. He used to take it to the local drag strip and race on Friday nights with his son, my nephew. He always described it as a great thing for him and his son to do together.
When he got sick and wasn’t able to drive the car anymore, I bought the car from him. Neither of us wanted to see the car leave the family. After he passed away, I went back to his friend that had helped him build the car, and we discussed what to do with it. I wasn’t drag racing at the time, but I didn’t want to see the car just sit. His friend took the car on a number of occasions to the local drag strip and raced it. The car needed a little tune-up work, so he did that also. We had him take it to the Mopar Nationals in Columbus, Ohio 2 years in a row and he did well with the car.
Eventually we realized that the car needed some work and we gave the car to his friend. His friend worked on the car and is still racing it to this day.
