1967 Formula S Barracuda

I really enjoyed this car, although it did take me a little while to get used to the color.  Once I started thinking of it as a root beer color, it grew on me.  A friend found this car for me in Phoenix and I bought it and really liked driving the car.  It had a very strong 383 in it.

There was one minor problem with it – it was a 4-speed car, but the shift pattern was wrong.  Normally, reverse is left and forward.  On this car, it was left and back.  I figured that probably one of the linkage rods was upside down, but I was never able to get it to fit correctly and ended up leaving it that way.

One day I had a few visitors over to look at the cars, and during the tour, one of the guys came over and asked me about the car.  It was up on a lift at the time, so it wasn’t too easy to see the car.  He told me that he had one that looked exactly like it, and that he had owned it up until about 6 years earlier.  We climbed up on a ladder to check out the VIN, and sure enough, it had been his car.  We ended up taking it off the lift and going for a drive in it.  I really think it made his day!
